Windrush Allies Network - WAN
The 'Windrush Allies Network' WAN was created following a series of Zoom sessions organised by Learning Links International - LLI, set up to explore ways to support the traumatic experiences being inflicted on members of the Windrush Generation in the process of proving their right to British Citizenship and also in claiming compensation for the distress and personal losses resulting from losing work, losing homes, being unable to access medical help and other issues resulting in the Home Office's challenge of their legal status to live in the UK.
These sessions were set up with support from Welsh Government funding for a group of volunteer 'Windrush Ambassadors' who had identified their support needs during Season 6 of LLI's Black History Conversations, as they struggled to address the issues facing people from the 'Windrush Generations' caught in the iniquitous processes put in place by the British Home Office.
